Mimi & Sonia - Forever With You

Mimi & Sonia having a classic Melbourne first look just outside the Conservatory in Fitzroy Gardens was a great start to their day. They did get ready at their house beforehand, but hid away in all the nooks and crannies so they didn’t see each other in their wedding attire (with the help of their bridal parties of course). This was beautiful to watch from a distance with their friends just out of ear sight allowing them to be completely present in the moment.

A quick walk over to the Registry Office with their bridal parties to meet up with their families and a few more friends for the ceremony was lush in the perfect Melbourne springtime weather.

Portraits with me on the wedding day I always want to reflect the energy and vibe that’s present in front of me. Mimi & Sonia are absolutely head over heels with each other and just so comfortable. With me placing them in some nice light or in front of a beautiful building, they took care of the rest and just made the whole session fun and relaxed.

When I have a little 35mm point and shoot film camera along with me for the day it’s always nice for me to pass it off to the couple for a few photos that they can take of each other and have in their gallery. It’s always a completely different look in the final image because when in front of the camera people are usually more relaxed and goofy with their other half.

Above: A quick pitstop for a scoop of ice cream at Spring Street Grocer (almost a must have at this point on a nice day in Melbourne when you’re at this end of the CBD).

Below: Naughtons Hotel providing the best service, food and hospitality for everyone during the reception. The back private dining room is the perfect size for 20-40 people looking for a smaller wedding or function. Enough space for a dance floor when the tables are put away after dinner proceedings and everyone having a boogie.
