Emily & Darcy - King & Queen of Kinglake
I remember meeting Emily & Darcy at a friend’s wedding a few years earlier and they were just such gems I was hoping to see them around in the future, and I was so stoked when they asked if I’d like to be a part of their wedding day. Funnily enough we had all met years earlier as they used to work at a local pizza shop that I went to growing up, but I never clued to it until mid-ceremony when they mentioned the pizza shop and all the memories came flooding back!
Focusing on a relaxed day with zero fuss, they knocked it out of the park. They really just wanted to have great food with their friends, dance and have some drinks. We ticked all of those boxes and had great weather to boot. Great light makes all the difference for photos, even in this gorgeous Kinglake backyard it’s hard to take a bad photo, but the sun shining and popping at the right time during the ceremony and portraits definitely made my job so fun and enjoyable throughout the day.
I haven’t ever been a part of a portraits session with a wedding couple that has been filled with so much laughter and jokes between each other. Emily & Darcy just making each other laugh and have genuine smiles throughout the entire day was so great to see. Just so relaxed and comfortable it was a breeze and so fun.
“Hey Andy, just so you know we’re a bit awkward in front of the camera.” I think 50% of couples day this to me leading into their wedding day, and I don’t believe it’s a thing. I think….I know, that the best photos I take are when couples are completely comfortable with themselves and each other. When the jokes are flowing and you’re able to relax the good photos follow.
